Comedians Sarah King and Alyson Lyon have something good going on. Their variety show, the Sarah and Alyson
Show, features a grab
bag of performers, including a self-identified "freak" selected each
week from Craigs' List.
The show changes each week as Sarah and Alyson tweak the material. The week I attended, Sarah and Alyson transformed into two eccentric geriatric performers from Vegas - Ernie and Maude. They gabbed and danced, then showcased two guys named Ken. The
first Ken played self proscribed "Nerd Core" which consisted of
pounding a drum kit wrapped in fur. (The drums were wrapped in fur, not
Ken). The second Ken (aka the craigslist freak) billed himself as
performing magical comedy. His comedy was slightly better than his magic, which
unfortunately wasn't very dazzling.
The best parts of the show emerged when Sarah and Alyson improvised with
their guests. They've got a comfortable dynamic and their exchanges are often hilarious.
A show with Sarah King show is always gonna throw something at ya, and this is
no exception.
